Very interesting. The documentary is called "Roberta Flack: Killing Me Softly," and watching it explained a lot about how she developed her unique style. Early music practice in a Methodist church. Later trained in classical piano and voice. And clearly influenced by folk and jazz. The documentary is not only about Flack, but also about the era in which she recorded.
I must say, though, I thought the documentary maker got carried away comparing her to Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," in terms of politics. But so be it.
